The cosmetics industry is a multi-million dollar one, and each year women spend increasing amounts of money on a wide variety of beauty products. We all want to look good, so it certainly makes sense to some degree to purchase products that we hope will help us look our best.
But before you plunk down your hard earned cash, take a minute to consider if you might perhaps be able to save money by using less expensive products that will help you achieve the results that you hope for. By getting creative, a variety of items that you are likely to have around your house can double as beauty fixers! Take Vaseline, for example. A large tub of Vaseline can be purchased for just a few dollars and can help solve a variety of your beauty concerns.
It makes a nice clear lip gloss, for example, and will help your lips from getting dry and cracked during the colder months. Vaseline can also be used as an eye makeup remover, with the added bonus of not stinging or harming your eye if some gets inside.
Simply apply Vaseline to your eye makeup area and wipe it off with a tissue, and you’ll have a gentle, effective way of removing your eye shadow and mascara! (Baby wipes, incidentally, are also a nice makeup remover, as well.) If your hands get dry, you can also put Vaseline on them and wear gloves to bed. When you wake up in the morning, your hands will be soft and moisturized.
Just about everyone these days wants a whiter smile, and whitening toothpastes and strips are available in virtually all grocery stores. You can spend several hundred dollars to have your teeth professionally whitened at a dentist’s office, as well.
Baking soda, however, is a far cheaper alternative. You’ll spend just a dollar or two and get noticeable results – sprinkle a little bit of baking soda on your toothbrush and brush your teeth as you normally would. Within just a little bit of time, you’ll soon start to see a difference!
If you struggle with acne – and most of us will at some point or another in our life – Visine can help reduce the redness of your acne. Visine is a brand of eye drops that helps irritated eyes appear less red, and you can use it to achieve the results that you’d get from an expensive concealer.
You can purchase Visine for just a few dollars from your local drug store and put a few drops of it on a cotton ball. Apply the cotton ball to your acne for a few seconds, and soon you’ll notice a temporary reduction in the redness.
We all want to look our best, but if we can save money while doing so, that’s an added bonus! Many common household items can double as solutions to your beauty problems. Get creative and you’ll likely be pleased with both the results and the savings!
